#sewmystyle – May – Califaye Collection Pocket Skirt
Another month has whizzed by but unlike the past couple of months, I’ve actually managed to make this month’s garment in time for the end of the month!
Another month has whizzed by but unlike the past couple of months, I’ve actually managed to make this month’s garment in time for the end of the month!
I was busy last month making birthday gifts and playing around with video making with my camera last month. Here’s one of the projects I made. I’ve had the fabric for this make for a while as I wanted to make a project bag for knitting or crocheting for my sister for Christmas but never managed to make it. It’s a pattern which I’ve had lying around for quite a while too.
Recently, Etsy revamped their stats for sellers, and I thought I would write a short bit about this.
I went to my mum’s house with the intention of making a pattern from an old dress I have of hers (which is at risk of disintegrating as it’s been worn so many times!) but I ended up nabbing one of her most recent charity shop pattern purchases and cutting out the pieces to make a dress!
Once again, I found myself blundering out of another month without a completed project for #sewmystyle. My flaw in April was that I completely forgot to prewash the fabric until the day I chose to cut out the pieces. I ended up washing it while I cut out pieces for another project on my list, and then with other deadlines appearing, April came and went!
March was a hectic month but I was pleased to complete a project which was on my list – The Freja Dress from Simply Sewing Magazine.
I’ve been swooning over many of the lovely pinafore patterns that have been around over the last couple of years, but opted for this one due to its A line style skirt.
Meet my most recent random purchase! To be honest, I’ve been keeping a lookout for a spinning wheel for well over a year, but as I’ve never used one, didn’t want to cough up too much money on a brand new one.
Many people find it hard to listen to themselves on a recording and I definitely fit into that category! Unfortunately, I was never any good at acting at school, and even when I worked in a call centre, my supervisor used to mark my calls down for being flat! It used to be awful listening back to calls with customers, but at least there were no graphics to accompany the awkward voice.
Youtube is a different matter! While I’m intrigued by the background elements – setting up the microphone, lighting, focusing the camera… I try to avoid talking or appearing on it. However, I’ve reached a point where a few busy projects have come to an end and my partner is nudging me in the direction of video.
I missed the #sewmystyle March project share last Sunday as March flew by at an alarming rate! I set aside time this week to catch up instead.
No completed achievements to show this month as I clink on with a couple of larger projects, but I fancied sharing some photo updates of my progress:
Crochet by Day
I’m a lunch crocheter at the moment – well, a broomstick crocheter anyway – and am currently working on a birthday present during my lunch hours. The wool is called Senses by Stylecraft, and it’s been lovely to work with.
Phill has noticed that it does look like I’m knitting a camouflage to avoid returning to work through!
Knit by Night
My “at home” project is a knit a jumper with one ball mission. Phill bought it for me from the local wool shop and it’s been partially complete for 1 or 2 years (I lose track). I went wrong on the sleeves by misreading the pattern and had to undo a huge chunk so I am back on sleeve #1!
Upcoming!
I’m quite determined to complete the above mentioned projects before I begin this one, but I got this kit from my friend for my birthday, and I’m very keen to begin it!
